One of the biggest responsibilities that comes with car ownership is ensuring that you’re conducting regular maintenance on your vehicle. Otherwise, you not only risk your car deteriorating and breaking quickly, but you can also put yourself in danger by not ensuring it’s running at maximum safety and efficiency. That’s why we’ve put together a list of necessary routine maintenance for your car below.

1.       Oil changes

Oil is necessary to keep your engine running smoothly. Without fresh oil, your engine can start to break apart because of the lack of lubrication. Check your oil level on your dipstick at least once a week to determine if it’s at the right level. Also be sure to schedule an oil change every 3,000 miles, or once every three months.

2.       Brake replacement

The brakes are one of the most important safety features of a car. Without functioning brakes, you can risk serious injury or even death. While brake inspections are routine as part of your yearly inspection, you’ll want to keep an eye out for signs that your brakes are failing early. Have your brakes checked out if the brake pedal feels spongy or if your brakes make a loud squealing sound when you press them.

3.       Battery maintenance

A solid car battery can last for several years as long as you’re driving on a regular basis. If your battery tends to die quickly and you need to have your car jumped every time you start it up, then you may need a new battery. However, it’s a good idea to have a service center check it out since there could be problems with the alternator or another component as well.
